With reference to Foreign Office letter

No. F 5794/34/10 of the 30th October last regarding

proposed changes in the extraterritorial system in

China, I am directed by Secretary Sir John Simon to

transmit to you herewith, for the information of the

Secretary of State for the Colonies, copy of

correspondence with His Majesty's Minister at Peking,

regarding the preparation of the necessary amendments

to the existing China Orders in Council, to meet the

requirements of the new régime contemplated in the Draft

Treaty regarding jurisdiction over British subjects

in China, should His Majesty's Government in the United

Kingdom decide to sign such a treaty.
